Our approach
Support that is practical, respectful, and neuroaffirming
The Strengths Centre provides neuroaffirming psychological and NDIS services for children, young people, adults, and families in Hornsby and surrounding areas. We support a range of mental health, developmental, and disability-related needs through strengths-based, evidence-informed care.
Services are offered in person at our Hornsby clinic, via telehealth, and through home or community-based support where appropriate. Our approach is collaborative and practical, shaped around individual needs, family context, and everyday environments such as home, school, work, and community.
Our core services
Areas of support at The Strengths Centre
Psychological and NDIS services supporting mental health, development, and wellbeing for children, young people, adults, and families.

Child and youth mental health services
Psychological support for children, adolescents, and young adults aged 3 to 30 years experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns. This includes anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, school-related stress, trauma, and adjustment challenges.
Support is developmentally informed and collaborative, with care shaped around the young person’s needs, family context, and everyday environments such as home, school, and community.

NDIS services
We provide a range of NDIS-funded psychological and disability supports for eligible participants, delivered in line with individual goals and funding categories. This includes therapeutic supports (psychology), behaviour support, and early childhood supports.
Support is developmentally informed and collaborative, with care shaped around the young person’s needs, family context, and everyday environments such as home, school, and community.

Psychological and developmental assessments
Comprehensive psychological and developmental assessments to support understanding, planning, and access to appropriate supports. Assessments may include cognitive, learning, autism, ADHD, behavioural, and adaptive functioning assessments.
Our assessment process is collaborative and transparent, with clear, practical reports designed to support individuals, families, schools, and NDIS teams.

Perinatal mental health support
Psychological support for neurodivergent women during pregnancy and early parenting, up to when their youngest child is four years old. This service supports mild to moderate mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and adjustment-related difficulties.
Care is provided in a respectful, neuroaffirming space that recognises the emotional, identity, and practical demands of the perinatal period.
Our approach
Care that centres strengths, context, and collaboration
We take a person-centred and collaborative approach to psychological and disability support care. This means listening closely, working at each person’s pace, and shaping support around individual strengths, needs, and priorities.
Our clinicians work with individuals, families, carers, schools, and support networks to ensure support is consistent and genuinely helpful across everyday settings. We aim to provide care that enhances daily life rather than adding complexity or disruption.
Our practice is neuroaffirming and non-pathologising. We seek to understand behaviour, emotions, and experiences in context, rather than viewing difference as deficit.
